Welcome back 5th graders! We are off are to a great start in Reading class. We started the week by talking about theme. Theme is the message or lesson that the author wants you to learn from a story. The theme is not stated outright in a story, but you must read between the lines to figure it out! Next, we moved on to point of view and perspective. We learned about how point of view and perspective can influence, or change, a story. We can now identify the difference between 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person limited, and 3rd person omniscient. We started working on a graded point of view assignment called POV and Pictures. I can't wait to see the final products!
